BERT EASLEY
Herbert C. (Bert) Easley was born December 16, 1904 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the oldest of four brothers. His family migrated to Mesa, Arizona in 1917. Bert graduated from Mesa High School in 1924. He was a self-taught dancer and acrobat, who went to Hollywood to get into motion pictures, and actually had some small walk-on-parts. He got into magic when during the recession of the thirties, there were thousands of out-of-work dancers trying to get into films. Bert worked as a successful professional magician until 1947, when he returned to Arizona and opened Bert Easley’s Fun Shop in downtown Phoenix. Bert received a performing fellowship and honorary membership to the Magic Castle in 1985. Bert died in November, 1987 after a long illness.Edit
